The Lodge at Pine Cove is a small, unassuming, intimate 15-cottage resort and lodge in the heart of the French River.  Desperately in need of market repositioning and strengthening of the marketing story, we built on the foundation of our elemental need for exploration and discovery – that each of us, in a way, seeks our “inner voyageur”. 

We supported this new direction with physical plant changes, operational changes, food & beverage program changes, financial analysis, new marketing and new business planning. 

Guests are responding with a passionate claiming of Pine Cove as the place they come to for renewal and  self-discovery.

Under our careful watch and on-going project management, The Lodge at Pine Cove has grown from 18% occupancy in 2008 to over 80% for the 2011 season, with a top line revenue increase of over 400% and net profit increase of over 500% in 4 years. The Lodge at Pine Cove is now ranked as top specialty lodge in Ontario by Trip Advisor.

Boscawen Inn:  Reviving the Jewel of a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Boscawen Inn is a 21-room heritage property with a storied past and a long line of owners.  Our team was contacted to revive flagging occupancy and sales and rejuvenate this fading grand dame of one of Canada’s most important cultural sites. 

With extremely limited capital available for physical changes and new operations, our team conducted a thorough evaluation of the facility, operations, finances, management and human resource capacity to determine the highest and best use of available assets.  Our opportunity analysis and competitive set matrix established what was possible, as well as what was essential, for competitive sustainability.

Our hands-on, in-person work with the owners and staff at The Boscawen included website redesign,  shopping for and installation of inexpensive but high-impact physical upgrades, a new food and beverage program, new guest communication collateral throughout the Inn, new revenue management strategy, new events launched and targeted PR implemented to improve the local use of the property. 

The results are significant:  Trip Advisor reviews saw an immediate and positive turnaround in comments and favourable reviews;  same-season walk-in sales responded immediately to revenue management techniques and physical improvements with an almost 100% close rate; average daily rates are now competitive with the rest of the competitive set and delivering excellent value to guests, (who are now responding positively on social media);  the new website has generated wedding sales for 2012 which are up 500% over 2011.  Best of all, the owners have been able to restructure their financing based on their improved performance in 2011 and the healthy projections for 2012.
